It hasn’t been long since my first visit to Reno (2607 N. Milwaukee Ave.) and their wood burning oven. I enjoyed the Hook sandwich featuring Togarashi smoked salmon so much on my last visit, I ended up ordering it again.
This trip, however, we sampled another one of pastry chef Katie Wyer’s fantastically delicious $4 mini pies. The Brown Sugar Walnut with pecorino cheese looked like the “must try.”
The decadent pie has a rich gooey caramelized brown sugar filling that’s mixed with chopped walnuts and baked into a flaky buttery crust. Its not too sweet and complex in flavor yet so simply prepared. Awesome.
The sandwiches offered at Reno are worth the trip for the quality and home made breads and bagels. The sweets are some of the best in the city. Go for the bagel and stay for two sweets.
I’m hungry. Let’s eat!
