A surprise stop by my GM at The Donut Vault (400N. Franklin Ave.) was the highlight of my day at work.
Gorgeous and enormous, the famous chestnut donuts were soft and gooey like a Krispy Kreme but tasted homemade and had a real unique nutty flavor.
When I say they were large, I mean it. You can share a donut if you just want a snack but they’re not that hard to take down solo because of their light airy texture.
The chocolate was equally tasty with a moderate dark chocolate frosting on dark cake and chocolate sprinkles.
With a number of specialty donut shops popping up lately the Vault is one of the original and as far as a “traditional” style donut goes, possibly the best
I’m hungry. Lets eat!
