Sloppy Joe’s are one of my all time favorite lunches to have at home. I have no problem making it from the can, though Jill makes a killer Joe sauce from scratch. It wasn’t until I sampled Longman & Eagle’s (2657 N. Kedzie Ave.) Wild Boar Sloppy J that I saw the true potential of this summer camp favorite.

L&E prepares their version with fresh and coarsely ground wild boar sourced from a local farm, crispy fried sage, pickled jalapeno, and onion. Rich beef fat fries accompany the sandwich which are about as good a fry that you’ll find in the city. L&E for lunch is a sure bet when in Logan Square. I have yet to sample a so-so item from their diverse menu.
