Since moving to the city I’ve been touting Pequod’s (2207 N. Clybourn Ave.) as the city’s best pan pizza. Seven years later with all the new spots that have opened to compete…Pequod’s still reigns supreme.
Their caramelized pan crust is what sets their pie apart. It comes.intentionally charred creating a gooey yet crispy crust unlike any other. They also happen to use very high quality ingredients but so do many pizza spots.
The cherry on top, though, is their lunch special. For only $4.95 you get your own personal pan pizza with one topping PLUS a beer or soda. Ridiculous. I’d recommend calling your order in about 20 minutes before you plan on arriving so its ready when u sit down. Money.
I’ve come across a few Chicago folk who claim to “hate” Pequod’s pizza – you know who you are. Yeah, basically, those people are dead to me.
Thumbs up. Can’t beat that crust.
